Artistic Director: Marissa Wolf

Currently in her fifth season as the Artistic Director of Crowded Fire Theater, Wolf’s recent directing credits include the West Coast Premiere of Songs of the Dragons Flying to Heaven by Young Jean Lee (Crowded Fire co-production with Asian American Theatre Company), The Secretaries by The Five Lesbian Brothers, DRIP by Christina Anderson, Gone by Charles Mee (Crowded Fire), Act II of The Lily’s Revenge by Taylor Mac (The Magic Theatre), the Bay Area Premiere of Thom Pain (based on nothing) by Will Eno, listed as #1 on Bay Area Critic Sam Hurwitt’s 2009 Top Ten list, (Cutting Ball Theater), Truce by Marilee Talkington (Vanguardian Productions), and her experimental adaptations both of Gertrude Stein’s long poem, Lifting Belly and Marguerite Duras’ story The Malady of Death (FoolsFURY Theater). She has directed workshop productions with Playwrights Foundation, the National New Play Network, Shotgun Players, and Berkeley Playhouse. Marissa previously held the Bret C. Harte Directing Internship at Berkeley Repertory Theatre for two years, where she assisted renowned directors, including Tony Taccone, Les Waters, Lisa Peterson, Annie Dorsen, Frank Galati, and Mary Zimmerman. Marissa has her degree in drama from Vassar College, and received additional training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

 

Managing Director: Tiffany Cothran

Tiffany Cothran has served as Crowded Fire Theater Company’s Managing Director since 2007 leading the administration and operations of the company. Her focus has been on maximizing the financial and operational systems of the company while implementing strategic and meaningful growth. During her tenure, she has overseen a broad re-branding campaign and transitioned the company onto a contract with the professional actors union (AEA). Tiffany has devised and administered successful paperless marketing and donation campaigns such as the well received e-newsletter Burn This and the company’s Adopt An Artist individual giving campaign. Recently, Tiffany was honored as one of Theatre Bay Area’s 35 Years, 35 Faces. Tiffany has also written copy for marketing, dramaturgy and outreach departments at a variety of theaters including CalShakes, the Aurora, and TheatreWorks. An arts education advocate, Tiffany served as the Associate Director of Education at TheatreWorks for three years and occasionally works with the Department of Theatre at the University of Mary Washington in Virginia.

Laura Brueckner

Director of New Works: Laura Brueckner 

Laura Brueckner specializes in new play development and digital dramaturgy.  She has assisted with research for ACT and Berkeley Rep, and has served as dramaturg for Dominique Serrand, Crowded Fire, the Bay Area Playwrights Festival, PlayGround, the National Queer Arts Festival, and Last Planet Theatre, and now, Vanguardian Productions. She is currently earning her Ph.D. at UCSD in the dramaturgy of variety entertainments, including cabaret, circus, burlesque, and vaudeville. She also writes and directs for theatre, and continues to work in variety performance.

Production Manager: Stephanie Alyson Henderson 

Stephanie’s Crowded Fire stage management credits include Exit, Pursued By A BearThe SecretariesSticky Time (Co-Produced with Vanguardian Productions); Songs of the Dragons Flying to Heaven (Co-Produced with Asian American Theater Company); the 2010 Matchbox Reading Series; and the upcoming production of GOOD GOODS. She has worked with Cutting Ball Theater, Altarena Playhouse, Berkeley Playhouse, DanceArt, and Joe Goode Performance Group.  She was a recipient of a Landisman Fellowship through Theatre Bay Area in November 2011. Stephanie holds a BA in Theater and Performance Studies from UC Berkeley where she received a 2010 Mask and Dagger Award for Extraordinary Contributions to the department of Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies.

Patron Services Manager: Brandon Henderson 

Brandon Henderson is in his second season as Patron Services Manager with Crowded Fire. He comes to CFT with a background in retail management and IT. In his first year with CFT, Brandon was instrumental in transitioning Crowded Fire’s box office onto a professional ticketing software platform and continues to implement further infrastructure through his administrative support in company management.
