Looking back and ahead!

December 10th, 2012 | Blog | CF Monkey | No Comments

What an amazing journey of growth & artistic success we’ve had this season in supporting the voices of vanguard playwrights! 2012 brought two huge organizational leaps for us:

1) the move into our own dedicated office/rehearsal space for the first time in CFT history (with a view of the Bay!), and

2) our new, larger performance venue at the Thick House in the lovely neighborhood of Potrero Hill!

Our campaign Project Home celebrates these critical moves, inviting our friends and family to support the new spaces that allow our artists and staff to unleash their creative juices.

This season the 2012 Matchbox Reading Series, featured significant local playwrights including Michelle Carter, Eugenie Chan, and Kate E. Ryan, as well as Chicago-based satirist Thomas Bradshaw who offered wildly diverse work in development from opera libretto, to faux docu-drama, to hyper-realism. Following this festoon of exciting readings, the mainstage season kicked off with the West Coast Premiere of Good Goods by Christina Anderson, followed by the West Coast Premiere of INVASION! by Jonas Hassen Khemiri, and capped off with the long anticipated World Premiere of The Hundred Flowers Project by Chris Chen (co-produced with Playwrights Foundation).

We’re thrilled to report that the 2012 season more than doubled our patrons up from the previous season! YOU have made this possible, as collaborators, patrons, and donors, and we are immensely thankful. In order to maintain our health and sustain this growth, come be a part of the glorious new play team by donating now! Every dollar is meaningful, and we hope you’ll add Crowded Fire to your end of the year giving at any level. All donations are tax deductible.

We are putting the final touches on an exciting 2013 season full of more incredible new play development and production. We’re looking forward to announcing the line-up of familiar and new faces! Until then, I wish you a happy holiday season and I look forward to seeing you at the theater in the new year!
